SSL Inspection allows organizations to monitor and secure encrypted web traffic by decrypting, inspecting, and re-encrypting it. To configure SSL inspection:
- Enable SSL Inspection – Turn on the feature in your security gateway or firewall.
- Install Trusted Certificates – Deploy the inspection appliance’s root certificate on all client devices to avoid browser warnings.
- Define Policies – Specify which traffic should be inspected (e.g., internal users, external sites) and which should bypass inspection (e.g., banking, healthcare).
- Test and Monitor – Verify that traffic is correctly decrypted and re-encrypted without causing errors, and monitor logs for anomalies.
Proper SSL inspection improves threat detection without disrupting user experience, but must be carefully managed to maintain privacy and compliance.
